Tuesday August 29, 2014   I have been asked to assist Tali Galeai in the Executive offices at the PCC. Alfred Grace is the PCC President.  Jarod Hester Is the CFO and Eric Workman is the VP/Chief Marketing. Yesterday Eric came into the office and said he just learned that PCC has a reserved table at an event in Honolulu that evening. Hawaii Hospitality Hall of Fame held at the Hawaii convention center. The PCC presidency named President David O McKay as the founder of the Polynesian Cultural Center. Since it was late notice and the event was in Honolulu, he was scrambling to get People to attend with him. He looked at me and said “Would you and your husband like to attend”? I said “Are you asking”? He said “Yes” I said “then we accept”.  August 19, 2023 Terry and I started the day off by going to breakfast with another Senior Missionary couple from Eagle Idaho. Leland and Tanya Young. They wanted to show us a great breakfast spot in Hauula called Papa Ole's kitchen. They have some pretty special pancakes made with chocolate chips, bananas, macadamia nuts and a sweet thick syrup over the top. We had such a good visit with this couple and hope to get to spend more time with them. Terry and I decided to go to one of our favorite beaches that David introduced us to called Kailua Beach. It is a great family beach because the waves are very gentle and the water is pretty clean. There is also shade trees which was nice.  August 14th, 2023 Today was the scheduled PCC day for Scott and Laura and family. Terry and I worked Luau while they got to experience Luau. This is a Picture of Terry and I in our matching Luau outfits. Monday-After spending a little time with Scott and Laura at Hukilau Beach, Terry and I went and picked up a famous Ted's chocolate, macadamia nut cream Pie to share with Scott's family.  Wednesday  We all went to Honolulu for some sight seeing. First the Nuuanu Pali lookout, then the Honolulu Stadium Swapmeet for some souvenirs then Terry and I went to the Naval commissary and got ourselves some snorkel gear so we won't have to keep borrowing some every time we want to go. Thursday was Scott's family's last day on the Island.  August 10th 2023 The Archibalds invited us to go through a sealing session with them tonight. There were several other couples in the session. One of them I found out later is a member of our ward Hauula 2nd ward. Our ward is a sign language ward and she is one who signs for our ward each week.  We were in the middle of a session when there was a knock on the sealing room door. The door was opened and a couple and an elderly woman entered. They had little time and just 2 names that needed to be done. The sealer invited them in. I watched as the younger sister very tenderly helped the older sister change into her robes then they performed the 2 sealings. The spirit was very strong and the sealer became emotional while doing the sealing. We were quite touched by the experience. After we finished our session I went into the dressing room to change.  Thursday August 3rd. We have been in Hawaii now 1 week and 4 days. We started working at the PCC warehouse this week. It feels like learning another new job so it takes much patience to allow the learning to happen. But we have to be even extra patient as the Polynesians already have a system in place but it doesn't always seem to us to be very efficient. We have a beautiful area at the PCC outside under a covered patio to eat our lunch with the other Senior Missionaries. It's been fun to get to know them. Everyone is so very kind. I have been feeling beach withdrawals as we hadn't had a chance to go to the beach this week so after work we drove back into Laie to go to the Hukilau Beach. It's farther than the beach across from our apartment but it is a nicer beach and doesn't have as much of an undertow.
